Enemy forces struck twice at a 'Ukrposhta' branch and a mobile branch vehicle base in the city of Meny in Chernihiv Oblast. This was announced on August 25 by Igor Smelyansky, the CEO of 'Ukrposhta,' in a public address, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. According to the company's head, after the double strike, "little remains" of the branch building.
Nature of the damage and on-site response
Smelyansky noted that he does not like to publish such news, but "there is what we have." According to his data, the post office building was hit twice — first the initial strike was delivered, then the enemy attacked again. At the scene, State Emergency Service (SES) personnel and the regional 'Ukrposhta' team are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. The company is already developing a plan for the temporary relocation of employees and the rapid opening of the branch at a new location.
Compensation to customers and no casualties
'Ukrposhta' stated that all parcels damaged or lost as a result of the attack will be compensated to customers. Smelyansky emphasized that the branch had been closed ahead of schedule, which is why neither employees nor customers were harmed. The company is now proceeding with the repair and restoration of the premises.
Context: systematic strikes on postal infrastructure
The attack on Meny was not an isolated incident. Earlier, on August 16, the enemy struck a post office in Kramatorsk — a drone hit the building directly, and, according to preliminary data, at least one person was killed and six others were injured. Thus, over the past week, Ukraine's postal infrastructure has suffered at least two serious strikes in different regions.
Impact on logistics and delivery times
The competing delivery service 'Nova Poshta' warned customers several times in late July and August about possible delivery delays due to the destruction of sorting centers as a result of Russian shelling. Due to the damage to central sorting centers and the need to reconfigure logistics processes, additional delays in parcel delivery across the country are possible. The attack on Meny will likely worsen the already strained situation with postal and logistics services in Chernihiv Oblast.
