On August 18, Russian forces attacked a suburban train in Kharkiv Oblast: a 40-year-old man was killed and seven were injured. The incident became part of a series of strikes on trains — over 500 locomotives have been damaged since the start of the war.

From 31 August to 6 September, DTEK's energy workers restored electricity to nearly 1 million households in 596 settlements across four Ukrainian regions. The most work was carried out in the Odesa and Donetsk regions.

Ukraine's Ministry of Education reported the completion of construction of 15 underground schools and shelters in six to seven regions, with 4,980 places. In 2026, 5 billion hryvnias have been allocated for these purposes, and by the end of August 90% of schools are equipped with protective structures.

The enemy struck twice at a 'Ukrposhta' branch and a mobile branch base in Meny, Chernihiv Oblast. The company's CEO promised to compensate for damaged parcels and to open the branch at a new location.
