Ukrainian defense enterprises holding critical status have been given a strict deadline: by August 10, they must submit documents to confirm this status. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement from the Ministry of Defense.
The ministry has initiated a large-scale review of previously made decisions. All statuses issued to defense industry enterprises before July 7, 2026, are subject to this review. The Cabinet of Ministers has already instructed state bodies to complete this process by September 1.
Simplified procedure and exceptions
A simplified confirmation procedure is provided for most organizations. They will not need to gather and submit a full set of documents again. However, there is an important exception: enterprises that received status based on the BRAVE1 grant criterion are required to undergo full re-confirmation.
Timely submission of documents is a key condition. If a company manages to submit the paperwork on time, its status as a critical enterprise will be preserved until the date specified in the previous decision. Accordingly, the deferment for conscripted employees will also be extended, but no longer than the validity period of the enterprise's status itself.
Risks of losing status and deferment
The consequences of missing deadlines will be serious. If an enterprise fails to submit documents by August 10, its critical status will be officially revoked starting September 1, 2026. This will automatically result in the cancellation of deferment for all conscripted employees of that organization.
Previously, RBC-Ukraine reported on the possibility of re-registering an existing deferment under another legal ground without losing it during the processing period. The government adopted corresponding amendments clarifying the list of grounds for deferment from mobilization in 2026. However, delays in reviewing documents while the enterprises remain critical could lead to loss of status and serious risks for employee deferment.
