The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex has been reinforced with a new development: the Varkhan unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) by Air3F has successfully passed official codification and has been approved for operation in the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine. This platform is designed to perform critical logistics missions on the front lines, where every deployment of personnel involves a colossal risk to life.
Technical characteristics and mobility
The foundation of the Varkhan UGV is a reliable 4x4 all-wheel-drive chassis, complemented by a dependent suspension and a solid ground clearance of 220 mm. This engineering configuration guarantees high mobility in complex terrain, broken dirt roads, and off-road conditions. The platform is capable of transporting up to 300 kg of payload, covering a distance of up to 37 km over rough terrain with such a load.
Autonomy and communication channels
Without a load, the robot's cruising range increases to 50 km, and its maximum speed reaches 20 km/h. The developers paid special attention to autonomy: the complex can operate continuously for up to 72 hours. Power is provided by quick-change rechargeable batteries that can be rapidly swapped in the field. A secure analog radio channel is used for control, and integration with Starlink and mobile LTE is also supported.
Air3F Ecosystem and Global Context
Varkhan is part of a unified ecosystem of solutions from Air3F, which includes T-Bone ground control stations, antennas, and repeaters. Mass production has already begun. Against the backdrop of the rapid development of ground robotics, experts also note other trends, such as testing the Croatian Komodo UGV or recent drone landing operations in the enemy's rear.
