In the conditions of modern warfare, where human casualties are rapidly increasing, the focus is shifting to the use of unmanned equipment. However, the effectiveness of ground robotic complexes (GRC) directly depends on the operator's qualification. Ukraine has launched an ambitious project to create specialized simulators for training personnel who control combat vehicles.

From Theory to Virtual Practice

Igor Belov, founder of the combat simulation ecosystem L7 Simulators, told RBC-Ukraine that developments are at the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) stage. The first results of the work are planned to be presented in the near future. The main goal of the project is to reproduce real combat processes in a virtual environment as accurately as possible.

Creating such an environment allows not only to practice control skills but also to model past operations to analyze errors, as well as to simulate future scenarios to evaluate the effectiveness of new strategies.

Relying on Real Experience, Not Outdated Protocols

The key difference of the Ukrainian development is the rejection of outdated protocols from the 90s. According to Igor Belov, simulators are built on the basis of real experience of modern warfare. Manufacturers and military personnel act within a single community where brainstorming sessions are regularly held to exchange experience and adapt programs to real conditions.

The L7 Simulators ecosystem aims to combine the methodology of training and real combat into a single database. This will allow for the formation of standardized training programs and the selection of the most effective tactical solutions.

Expanding Functionality and International Plans

The project is not limited to ground robotics alone. Other areas are planned to be included in the ecosystem. The main task of the developers is to build a comprehensive platform to which all Ukrainian simulator manufacturers can join.

"This will not only be a Ukrainian project, but a project that will be distributed worldwide," noted Belov, emphasizing the global potential of the development.

First Step: VR Trainer for Equipment Maintenance

In anticipation of the launch of the main platform, L7 Simulators presented the first VR trainer of a new type. It is designed to practice the full cycle of military equipment maintenance in virtual reality. The 122-mm D-30 gun was chosen as a prototype for the simulator development, demonstrating the developers' desire for detail and realism.
