In Kyiv, the 2026-2027 heating season will begin not according to a strict calendar date, but taking into account actual air temperatures. As Petro Panteleev, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCGA), reported in a comment to Novyny.LIVE, the capital's authorities are focusing exclusively on real weather indicators outside.
Technical readiness and resource saving
According to KCGA representatives, the main technical and repair works on heating networks and critical infrastructure facilities have already been completed. At the same time, specialists continue to perform necessary preventive measures that can be carried out before the heating system is launched. The authorities also emphasize the need to carefully and rationally use gas, as this resource remains strategically important.
Special procedure for hospitals and schools
Traditionally, social infrastructure facilities in the capital are connected to heat on an individual basis. Medical institutions, kindergartens, and schools can start the heating season earlier than residential buildings. The decision to supply heat to such organizations is made by their heads by submitting appropriate applications to city services.
Tariff policy and price freeze
It is worth noting that in the new autumn-winter season, tariffs for thermal energy and hot water for the population of Kyiv will remain unchanged. For household consumers, the cost of one gigacalorie of heat is fixed at 1,654.41 hryvnias, and a cubic meter of hot water is 97.89 hryvnias. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the mechanism of special obligations (PSO) on the natural gas market until March 31, 2027.
Contradictory data
While the KCGA reports high technical readiness of the city for the heating season and the completion of preparatory work, independent experts and energy analysts continue to point out serious infrastructural risks. According to specialized experts, the situation in the energy system remains vulnerable due to potential external threats, which may require prompt response from emergency crews during winter frosts.
