The "Kursk" Group of Forces refuted Russian claims of capturing Veliky Prykol and Sadky in Sumy region, stating that both settlements remain under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

ISW recorded that on August 26–27, Ukrainian counterattacks thwarted Russia's offensive on the Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Slaviansk, and Pokrovsk directions. Ukrainian forces advanced in the Borova area and captured strongpoints.

On August 26, during his visit to the front, Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the AFU command and ordered the defense of Zaporizhzhia to be strengthened, while in the Donbas two groupings under the command of Biletsky and Prokopenko are to be created.

Mandatory removal of children with their parents has been introduced in nine villages of Zaporizhzhia district: the deadline is until 20 September 2026. Collection is carried out at the place of residence, and transport is to the oblast's transit centre.

The forensic examination confirmed that monk Varsonofiy of the Sviatohor Lavra died from a gunshot wound as a result of an intentional attack. A criminal case has been opened in the Donetsk region on territory controlled by Ukraine.

ISW has confirmed via geolocation an AFU advance south of Dobropillya near Vodiane. Simultaneously, a Russian advance southwest of Pokrovsk is confirmed, while Ukrainian counterattacks in the Kharkiv region have halted the enemy's offensive.
