On the night of September 17, 2026, an imperceptible earthquake was recorded in Sambir District of Lviv Oblast — the fourth in Ukraine since the beginning of the month, the MCSC reports.

Using deep learning, scientists analyzed more than 2 million seismic records from 1990–2024 and discovered six anomalous bands at Earth's core–mantle boundary, at a depth of 2,900 km. The results were published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth.
