Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to seek a compromise with Russia on energy and grain, noting their significance for India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. He also expects a meeting with Trump in the second half of September.

The FAO food price index reached 133.3 points in August — the highest since November 2022. The rise is driven by heat in Europe, El Niño in Asia and reduced grain supplies from Ukraine amid attacks in the Black Sea.

The National Bank of Ukraine has temporarily increased the maximum settlement period for grain and oilseed exports from 120 to 150 days. The decision was made against the backdrop of attacks on port infrastructure and entered into force on August 26, 2026.
