🏺 Archaeologists in Inner Mongolia have made a breakthrough discovery: a 4,300-year-old Longshan culture tomb containing the earliest pair of Dragon and Phoenix statues. 🐉 The discovery at the Zhaizhita site is rewriting the history of symbols: the statues are dated to 2300 BCE. 💎 The tomb owner was an elite: a jade disc with turquoise and clay idols were found next to the body. 🥩 DNA and isotope analysis showed that the deceased ate millet and a large amount of meat. 📜 This proves that the mythology of the dragon and phoenix existed in Northern China long before the formation of empires.
