Aerospace company Sceye tested a stratospheric 6G communications platform, completing a 30-day flight from New Mexico to Japan and back.

An iPhone 17 Pro in an AirX case was dropped from the stratosphere at an altitude of 30,607 m without a parachute. The smartphone survived a 25-minute free fall and cold down to −60 °C, setting a Guinness World Record.

Researchers, publishing their work in Nature Communications, established that 22 global cooling events over the past 11,700 years were triggered by powerful volcanic eruptions that emitted sulfur into the stratosphere.
