Apple has officially confirmed its third autumn event, dubbed Pro and Tell. Marketing chief Greg Joswiak sent out invitations to users, and his social media post — 'Can't wait to pro and tell next week' — triggered a wave of leaks. The presentation will take place on October 28, 2026, in Los Angeles and is intended by the company to be the main product event of the autumn following recent smart home device announcements. Apple has practiced the 'full product day' format before, but this time the focus is on a major overhaul of the flagship laptop lineup.
The First Touchscreen in Mac History
The most noticeable change reported by insiders will be the introduction of the first touchscreen OLED display in Apple computer history. This is a fundamental shift for a platform that has gone decades without touch controls. Along with the new matrix type, the top part of the screen will also change: the familiar camera notch will be replaced by a neat hole punch, and the Dynamic Island interactive panel, familiar from the company's smartphones, will be integrated into the control system.
Chassis Redesign Long-Awaited for Five Years
The flagship laptop will receive a completely redesigned chassis for the first time in the last five years. According to insiders, the new model will be noticeably lighter and slightly thinner than previous generations, which should address one of the main criticisms leveled at the lineup: its dimensions and weight. Such a large-scale redesign usually accompanies a shift in the device's architectural generation, so the event is perceived as a complete overhaul of the laptop's structure rather than a cosmetic update.
Chips: M5 Pro and M5 Max Instead of Expected M6
Despite the major redesign, insiders say not to expect the anticipated M6 Pro or M6 Max chips at the presentation. The flagship laptops will be powered by the already familiar Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, while the next-generation chips, according to the same estimates, will not appear until the autumn of 2027. This means that the flagship's hardware internals will not be the main selling point of the announcement — the focus will shift to the design and display.
What Else Will Be Shown: Base MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPad mini
In addition to the flagship, updates to other devices are expected at the event. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro in its previous chassis and the iMac desktop will receive next-generation Apple M6 processors. A separate novelty will be the long-awaited successor to the iPad mini with a more modern chip and OLED display, although the tablet's screen may reportedly keep the standard 60Hz refresh rate. Thus, Pro and Tell promises to be one of Apple's most feature-packed product events in recent years.
