On Friday, October 30, 2026, Ukraine's cash currency market recorded a noticeable decrease in the value of major foreign currencies. Both the US dollar and the euro noticeably fell in price at exchange offices across the country, while the banking segment showed restrained and multidirectional dynamics. According to the Minfin portal, the average dollar exchange rate in exchange offices decreased simultaneously for both buying and selling, indicating a general pullback after recent quotation growth.
Exchange rates at currency booths: dollar and euro lose ground
As of October 30, the average dollar exchange rate at exchange offices was 46.48 hryvnias for buying, which is 12 kopecks cheaper than the morning of the previous day. Selling American currency at an exchange booth is possible at 46.16 hryvnias (a drop of 13 kopecks). The euro is showing an even more pronounced correction: the average selling rate in exchange offices dropped to 51.70 hryvnias, losing 20 kopecks compared to the previous day. Buying euros for citizens at exchange booths costs 51.30 hryvnias today, which is also 20 kopecks lower than yesterday's level. Thus, the spread between buying and selling both currencies in exchange offices remains within 30–40 kopecks.
Banking segment: restrained and multidirectional dynamics
The picture looks more complex in banks. The average dollar purchase rate in the banking segment today is 46.03 hryvnias (a decrease of 1 kopeck), and the selling rate is 45.24 hryvnias (a decrease of 18 kopecks). For the euro, the dynamics are multidirectional: bank selling rose by 1 kopeck to 51.40 hryvnias, while buying decreased by 14 kopecks to 50.50 hryvnias. Such multidirectionality indicates that banks are adjusting rates based on their own liquidity and operational needs rather than blindly following the cash market.
Rates in Ukraine's largest banks
Among individual banking institutions, the picture is heterogeneous. PrivatBank sells dollars at cash desks for 45.99 hryvnias (an increase of 14 kopecks), while the card rate is 45.87 hryvnias unchanged. Euros at PrivatBank branches can be bought for 51.30 hryvnias (+5 kopecks), and by card for 51.28 hryvnias (unchanged). Oschadbank offers dollars in its mobile app at 45.85 hryvnias (unchanged), and for cards at 46.05 hryvnias (−1 kopeck). The euro in Oschadbank's mobile app costs 51.30 hryvnias, and by card 51.50 hryvnias, both rates unchanged. PUMB is lowering its rates: the dollar at branches and for cards is sold at 46 hryvnias (−10 kopecks), the euro at cash desks at 51.30 hryvnias (−10 kopecks). Monobank maintains stability: the dollar is sold at 45.86 hryvnias (unchanged), the euro at 51.27 hryvnias (+1 kopeck).
Context and weekend outlook
The decline in exchange office rates recorded on October 30 occurs against the backdrop of a general pullback after recent quotation growth, which is typical for the pre-weekend period when cash transaction volumes decrease and banks and exchange offices adjust spreads. The difference between average rates in exchange offices and banks for the dollar is about 45 kopecks in favor of the banking segment, making cash transactions in banks more profitable for large amounts. For the weekend of October 31 – November 1, movement in the cash market generally slows down, and no significant rate revisions are expected during this period. Investors and citizens planning currency transactions are advised to consider the difference between cash and card rates, as well as the spread between buying and selling, which remains moderate under current conditions.
