As of Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the largest Ukrainian retail chains — Silpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan — updated their price tags on a range of basic food products. According to RBC-Ukraine monitoring data, the weekly trend was mixed: some categories saw a decline, others a rise, while a third group held at a stable level. The most noticeable shifts occurred in the grains and eggs segments, while bread and sunflower oil remained virtually unchanged in price.

Buckwheat: diverging trends across chains

Buckwheat groats show contradictory dynamics depending on the retail chain. At Novus, the price per kilogram dropped from 71.99 UAH to 69.99 UAH, which can be regarded as a moderate price cut. At the same time, the same item at Auchan rose from 69.90 UAH to 74.90 UAH — a 7.2% increase over the week. The most favorable offer is still held by Silpo, where thanks to a promotional deal a kilogram of buckwheat can be purchased for 54.99 UAH. Thus, the price spread between chains is nearly 20 hryvnias per kilogram, which underscores the importance of comparing prices before buying.

Eggs: appearance of a budget item and a rise in per-unit prices

In the egg segment, two notable events took place this week. First, Silpo introduced an affordable C1-category item priced at 39.19 UAH per dozen, making it one of the cheapest offers on the market. Second, at Auchan, per-unit eggs rose from 5.20 UAH to 5.80 UAH each, which equates to 58.00 UAH per dozen. The gap between the cheapest and the most expensive offer among the chains under review is nearly 19 hryvnias per dozen, which for the consumer means a substantial difference with regular purchases.

Bread and sunflower oil: price stability

Bread remains fully stable in price across all four chains. The most affordable option is offered at Silpo — 14.59 UAH for a 0.35 kg loaf. The most expensive item among the tracked chains is at Novus, where a similar product costs 25.79 UAH for 0.4 kg. Refined sunflower oil also did not change in price in any of the chains: a 0.5 l bottle ranges from 49.40 UAH at Auchan to 57.99 UAH at Silpo. Stability in these two categories against the backdrop of price movement in buckwheat and eggs indicates that inflationary pressure on the basic grocery basket remains local for now.

Milk: promotional offers and small packages

In the dairy segment, the most attractive prices for small packages (450 g) are offered by Silpo (19.99 UAH) and ATB (20.40 UAH). At Novus, a promotional price on a large 900 g package remains in effect — 34.99 UAH instead of the base 53.99 UAH — making it the optimal choice for those who buy milk in larger volumes. The difference between the promotional and regular price at Novus is nearly 35%, which is one of the most noticeable discounts in the current monitoring.

Summing up the weekly picture: on September 22, 2026, Ukrainian supermarkets show mixed price dynamics. Consumers aiming to minimize their spending would do well to track promotional offers of specific chains, since the price spread for the same product between Silpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan can reach 20–30% depending on the category.
