Ukrainian retail has split into four financial models — from high-margin chains to discounters. Margin, turnover, and operating expenses determine how much of the war-related costs a chain will not pass on to the consumer.

As of September 1, promotional prices in Ukrainian supermarkets fell for sunflower oil and eggs in the Silpo chain, while in ATB, Auchan, and Novus price tags on basic items remained at the level of August 31.

As of August 25, prices on milk and bread at Silpo, ATB, Novus and Auchan have largely converged, while the gap between chains on buckwheat, sunflower oil and eggs reaches 15 hryvnias.

As of August 24, 2026, RBC-Ukraine updated its price monitoring at Sillpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan: eggs from 34 UAH, oil from 49 UAH. Oil and bread are getting cheaper, eggs are getting more expensive, and buckwheat is going into short supply.

On August 21, prices for socially significant goods were updated in Ukrainian chains 'Silpo', ATB, Novus, and 'Auchan': eggs and milk are becoming more expensive, buckwheat is again in 'shortage', while oil and bread have become cheaper.

As of August 20, RBC-Ukraine recorded divergent dynamics in Silpo, ATB, Novus, and Auchan: oil and bread prices dropped, while milk and eggs continue to rise.
