During the night, Rostov-on-Don was subjected to a massive strike using unmanned aerial vehicles. According to monitoring sources, the attack resulted in human casualties and serious damage to infrastructure. As a result of the incident, two people died, and five others were injured with varying degrees of severity.
Attack Targets: Port and Defense Plant
The primary target of the strike appears to have been the Rostov Sea Trade Port. Analysis of satellite imagery and data from the publication ASTRA confirms the presence of smoke in the area of the port's fourth cargo district. This is a strategically important facility: despite its location on the Don River, it is part of the Azov-Black Sea basin system and serves international shipping, accepting vessels under foreign flags.
Parallel to the port, the city's railway infrastructure was likely hit. Additionally, OSINT sources report an attack on the Azov Optomechanical Plant. The enterprise is part of Russia's defense industry and specializes in the production of high-precision systems, radar, and optoelectronic complexes.
Damage in the Residential Sector
The consequences of the attack also affected the civilian population. A residential building on Beregovaya Street, located just 1.5 kilometers from the port, sustained damage. The incident occurred at night when most residents were in their apartments.
Context of Escalation
The attack on Rostov is not an isolated event. On the night of July 25, drones had already struck other cities: Engels and Luhansk, where fires broke out, including in a barracks building. Earlier this week, Belgorod was targeted, where the probable target may have been the FSB building; as a result of the attack, a significant part of the city, including the center, was left without power. The situation in border regions and major logistics hubs remains tense.
