Ukrainian defense industry has taken a new step in the development of autonomous combat systems. Developers of The Fourth Law company have officially presented the night drone Lupinus-10-TFL-1-T, which has undergone codification and received its own NATO inventory number. This event confirms the transition from experimental samples to standardized combat units integrated into international accounting systems.

Intelligence vs. EW

The key feature of the new model is the integration of the TFL-1 autonomy module. In the conditions of modern warfare, where electronic warfare (EW) means have become the norm, the drone's ability to maintain combat effectiveness is critical. Thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms, the Lupinus-10-TFL-1-T is capable of automatically recognizing target outlines and locking onto them. Even with complete suppression of the control signal, the device does not become "deaf": it switches to autonomous mode and continues moving until it collides with the object.

Developers state that the built-in terminal guidance system ensures target hit accuracy at a level of more than 70%. The implementation of first-level automation technologies increases the overall efficiency of FPV drone combat tasks by two to four times, while the production cost increases by only 10% compared to basic models.

Ukrainian "Iron" Sovereignty

Particular emphasis in the creation of Lupinus was placed on import substitution and the use of domestic components. This allows minimizing dependence on foreign supplies and promptly making changes to the design in response to the enemy's tactical tasks.

The drone includes:

  • Optics: Kurbas-640 thermal imaging camera from partner company Odd Systems. It allows identifying objects and navigating in conditions of zero visibility, making the drone an ideal tool for night operations.
  • Electronics: "Karma" onboard flight stack of Ukrainian development. It combines the flight controller (FC) and motor speed controller (ESC) into a single system.
  • Body: 10-inch lightweight carbon frame manufactured at Ukrainian facilities.

From Dissident to Weaponry

The name of the drone — Lupinus — carries a deep symbolic load. Developers named it after Anatoliy Lupynos, a well-known Ukrainian dissident, poet, and political prisoner of the Soviet regime. Thus, modern military equipment inherits the memory of the struggle for independence.

Technical progress in this field has already received official status. The drone has been entered into the state DOT-Chain system registry and added to the Brave1 technology marketplace. Now, state structures and volunteers can purchase it for e-points, which simplifies the procurement and fund distribution process.
