On September 4, Ukraine will largely remain dry: according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, precipitation is expected only in the northwest of the country, where a western atmospheric front will bring light rain in places during the day. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing meteorologists. In most regions, the weather will be shaped by a field of slightly elevated pressure, so no precipitation is forecast there.
Temperature contrast and air masses
At altitude, a cool air mass remains over most of Ukraine's territory, but in the south and southeast the air is noticeably warmer, so temperatures will be higher there. Cloud cover is expected to be variable, and at night and in the morning fog will linger in places in the northern, mostly western, and central regions.
Wind and gusts in the Carpathians
The wind will be predominantly southwesterly, at 5–10 meters per second. During the day, gusts of up to 15–20 meters per second are possible in the Carpathians, which meteorologists traditionally associate with the mountainous terrain and local squall phenomena.
River water levels and implications for agriculture
The forecast context also matters for assessing the water balance: it was previously noted that the assessment of water levels in Ukraine's main rivers for August recorded a strengthening of low-water conditions in several regions. The most critical situation developed on a tributary of the Pripyat — the Stokhody River — where, since August 5, the water flow has completely disappeared and the current has effectively stopped. Due to a lack of effective precipitation, soil moisture reserves have been barely replenished, and this will affect the sowing of winter rapeseed the most, as well as preparations for winter sowing in general.

Publications from different outlets covering the same date present the information differently. RBC-Ukraine, citing the UHMC, describes the day as predominantly dry, with light rain only in the northwest and no squalls in the flat regions. At the same time, TSN.ua, in its headline and text, speaks of a "sharp turn" in the weather, naming the regions where rain and squalls are expected and where heat up to 30 degrees will persist. Thus, one version emphasizes the moderate, dry character of the day, while the other highlights the contrast between rainy/squally areas and hot ones. The difference in wording concerns the scale and intensity of precipitation and wind, not the very fact of the temperature contrast between north and south, which both sides acknowledge.
