According to the head of the Cherkasy hydrometeorological center, severe low-water conditions are observed on most of Ukraine's rivers, having been building up since May. On certain sections the riverbeds are drying up, and water flow is falling below ecological norms.

On September 4, Ukraine will largely remain dry: light rain is possible only in the northwest, while the air is noticeably warmer in the south and southeast. At night and in the morning, fog will linger in places in the north and west.

UkrGMs has published its assessment of Ukraine's river water levels for August 2026: low-water conditions intensified in a number of basins, and on the Stokhody River near Liubeshiv the runoff ceased entirely from 5 August.

UkrHMIC declared Level III of danger — 'brown' — due to water levels in the Dniester, Sian, and Western Bug basins falling to historic lows at the end of August.

🌊 July 2026 was critical for Ukrainian rivers: the water volume of most waterways was significantly below normal. Precipitation deficit up to 80% across most of the country, although in some areas — downpours up to 300% of the norm. Ecosystems are under threat, especially on the Southern Bug and Pripyat.
