Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared Moscow's readiness for a new round of negotiations on Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump tied a meeting with the Kremlin to the end of the war.

Ukraine's FSS warned that Russian special services may stage terrorist attacks and sabotage on 18–20 September on the occupied territories during the sham State Duma elections, pinning them on Ukraine. The intelligence service urges residents of the TOT to avoid gatherings of people from 17 to 21 September.

Following three rounds of negotiations in Kyiv, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine, the US and Europe have agreed to meet again. The location and date of the next meeting have not yet been determined.
