On October 19, Odesa and the Odesa region felt underground tremors from a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Romania's Vrancea zone. The hypocenter was over 120 km deep, with an intensity of IV.

A joint study by Chinese scientists has shown that North Korea's underground nuclear tests activated tectonic faults, which is why seismic activity near the test site has not subsided for nearly nine years.

On the evening of September 19, a barely perceptible earthquake was recorded in Kamianets-Podilskyi district of Khmelnytskyi region. This is already the fourth such case in Ukraine in a month; there is no threat to the population.

Using deep learning, scientists analyzed more than 2 million seismic records from 1990–2024 and discovered six anomalous bands at Earth's core–mantle boundary, at a depth of 2,900 km. The results were published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth.

A magnitude 1.8 earthquake was recorded in Nadvornyanskyi District of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The epicenter was in the Pasiachnianskyi territorial community at a depth of 6 km. The tremors have been classified as imperceptible.

On August 26, a magnitude 1.7 earthquake at a depth of 7 km was recorded in the Rakhiv community of Zakarpattia Oblast. The tremors were imperceptible and caused no damage.

American scientists have developed a new method for searching for water on the Moon using seismic waves. Icy soil changes the speed of wave propagation, allowing deposits to be found at depths of up to 800 meters. Chinese missions and future astronauts will be the first to test the theory. 🌕🔍💧
