Ukrmetallurgprom has appealed to the Ministry of Economy demanding uniform rules for scrap metal sales for all market participants and opposing a separate export mechanism for Ukrzaliznytsia. Metallurgists are ready to buy up to 95% of volumes domestically.

There are no market grounds in Ukraine to lift the zero quota on steel scrap exports or introduce duty-free shipments, said Ukrmetallurgprom President Oleksandr Kalenkov.

UMP President Kalenkov warned of the risk of freight transport halting in frontline regions due to a shortage of locomotives and crews. A "Railway Ramstein" is needed to stabilize the situation.

Alexander Kalenkov, President of the "Ukrmetallurgprom" Association, stated that export restrictions on scrap have ensured a normal supply of raw material to metallurgists, and called for a 180 euro/tonne duty on supplies to the EU, where a zero rate currently applies.
