Monthly housing assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine continues to be paid on the unchanged schedule — on the 15th and 28th of each month. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution No. 709. The benefit amounts have also remained the same: children and persons with disabilities receive 3,000 hryvnias, while other IDP categories receive 2,000 hryvnias. However, the key change enshrined in the current version of the regulatory act has been a significant strengthening of state control over the accuracy of recipients' personal data.

Benefit amounts and payment procedure

In accordance with the current Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution, housing funds for IDPs are transferred in two periods within each calendar month. The first tranche is paid on the 15th, and the second — on the 28th. This scheme remains unchanged: the recipient categories and the corresponding amounts have not been revised. For children and persons with disabilities, the assistance amount is 3,000 hryvnias per month, and for all other categories of displaced citizens — 2,000 hryvnias. Payments are made through the Pension Fund of Ukraine, which acts as the main operator of social benefits for this category of citizens.

Enhanced control: what changed in 2026

Previously, according to RBC-Ukraine, payments could be made to recipients for a long time without additional checks by the state. Now the approach has fundamentally changed: the authorities carefully monitor any changes in the lives of benefit recipients. If a person's current data — whether place of residence, family composition, property status, or status of staying abroad — differs from the information recorded in the official registers, payments are automatically suspended until all circumstances are clarified. This means that even a formal discrepancy in the data can lead to a block on the benefit until the issue is resolved.

When payments may be suspended

The state will carefully monitor several key parameters. First, the duration of stays abroad: prolonged presence outside Ukraine may become grounds for reviewing the right to the benefit. Second, relocations to a new place of residence within the country — if the actual address does not match the one indicated in the register, payments may be stopped. Third, changes in property status or family composition. The Pension Fund of Ukraine previously named seven reasons why displaced persons may be deprived of the monthly benefit — among them significant purchases, the presence of a large deposit, and prolonged stays abroad. Thus, even with a formal right to the payment, the actual circumstances of the recipient's life may lead to its termination.

What to do to avoid losing the benefit

To ensure payments are made without delays, the state recommends independently taking care of updating information in the registers. This primarily concerns situations related to relocation, changes in family status, acquisition of property, or departure abroad. Do not delay informing the authorities about personal circumstances — timely updating of data will help preserve the right to state support. Information on the status of payments and verification of one's own data can be obtained through the official channels of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. It is important to remember: a payment delay most often does not mean the loss of the right to the benefit — in most cases, funds are transferred after technical or informational discrepancies are resolved.

Compensation for host families

It is separately noted that Ukrainians providing free shelter to internally displaced persons are also entitled to a monthly state compensation. However, payment may be refused in the case of providing fictitious data or upon the detection of a family relationship between the host party and the displaced person that does not meet the established criteria. This additional restriction is aimed at preventing abuse and ensuring the targeted nature of state expenditures.
