Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first closed, one-on-one meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar since the latter's election. The parties discussed Ukraine's EU accession, the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia, and a diplomatic settlement.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Kyiv expects to open all six EU accession negotiation clusters by the end of 2026: four are already launched, and following the settlement with Hungary, no political obstacles remain.

Stefanchuk and Forsthofer held their first meeting in Rome, agreeing to develop inter-parliamentary dialogue and reaffirming Hungary's support for Ukraine's EU path. The meeting took place against the backdrop of both countries opening new European integration negotiation clusters.

On September 8, the XVII LFM conference was held in Kyiv: farmers discussed the move away from classic business models, the role of AI, and a forecast for 2036. The organizers replaced panel discussions with an open-mic format.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that Ukraine is not ready for EU accession and that the process should proceed on standard terms without accelerated procedures, citing the unfulfilled agreement on the rights of the Hungarian minority.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, Armenia is preparing an EU accession application and may bill Russia $2 billion for the military base and railways. Yerevan is effectively completing its pivot away from Moscow.

Former President Robert Kocharyan and five other people, including his son, have been detained in Armenia in a case over the illegal diversion of state property. The investigation is examining real estate transactions and transfers totaling approximately 144 billion drams.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Hungary Shandor reported that in one month of work by the expert commission, the parties moved forward disputes that had not been resolved for almost ten years, opening two out of six EU accession clusters.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary, Fedor Shandor, reported that amendments to points 1–5 of the agreement on the rights of the Hungarian community will be implemented in September 2026, while issues 6–10 — by May 2027.

Zelensky sent an open letter to the Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Madar, congratulating him on Saint Stephen's Day and thanking him for supporting sovereignty. Meanwhile, Budapest continues to block Kyiv's European integration clusters.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Ukraine is ready for the opening of the second negotiation cluster on the internal market. Kyiv has already fulfilled a significant part of the necessary conditions, and the block could be opened "as soon as possible". 🇺🇦🇪🇺
