U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner stated at the YES forum in Kyiv that Washington has prepared the main body of the peace deal, but Kyiv refuses to yield to Moscow's territorial demands.

On Fox News, Trump called his conversation with Putin "wonderful," stated that Moscow is ready for a deal, and pointed to the "hate" between the leaders as the main obstacle to peace.

According to Yuri Ushakov's statement, on September 8, 2026, Putin and Trump held a one-hour phone conversation, which the Kremlin called constructive. The parties discussed Witkoff's and Kushner's visits and agreed to continue the humanitarian track.

Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov declared Russia's "readiness for peace every minute" and expressed hope for resuming trilateral talks with the US and Ukraine following the Witkoff and Kushner visit to Moscow.
