The Pentagon cancelled an operation to seize a Chinese vessel in the Middle East after it emerged that the data about a nuclear cargo on board had been generated by a hallucination of a commercial chatbot. The incident exposed the systemic risks of using AI in military intelligence without strict verification.

GUR stated that on the night of September 6–7, 2026, it struck a Russian Su-24 in temporarily occupied Crimea, calling the attack a 'gift' for Military Intelligence Day. No independent confirmation of the strike is available in open sources.

GUR Head Oleg Ivashchenko stated that the Russian economy has weakened, but resources for the war will last until 2027–2028. The key problems are a shortage of personnel, the budget deficit, and the banking sector. The statement was made after three rounds of negotiations with the US in Kyiv.

Ukraine's GUR announced the preparation of an information campaign to discredit military intelligence and its combat units, including payments for spreading fakes. Intelligence called on journalists to report to law enforcement agencies any attempts to disseminate unverified data.

The GUR of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has revealed data on Russian scientists and developers from universities and research institutes involved in defense programs and cooperating with the military-industrial complex. The agency states that their international scientific cooperation strengthens Russia's technological potential.
