According to HUR, at the occupied ZNPP none of the six units is generating electricity, the cooling pond water level is critically dropping, and regular power outages create the risk of a prolonged blackout.

Ukrainian energy workers have restored the external power supply to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, which had been disconnected from the Unified Energy System since August 20. The plant is again connected to the grid, with its consumption at 11 MW.

Energoatom reports a critical nuclear safety situation at the occupied ZNPP: after the 27th blackout, the plant has been powered by diesel generators in non-design modes for more than two weeks.

On September 5, the seventh local ceasefire took effect in the ZNPP area for the repair of the last power line. Since August 20, the plant has been running on emergency diesel generators with shrinking fuel reserves.

The IAEA reported that the Zaporizhzhia NPP has been running only on emergency diesel generators for over a week after losing its last external 330 kV line. Fuel reserves will last approximately 10 days.

German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider pledged in Kyiv to support Ukraine in repairing the damaged Chernobyl dome at a cost of around 500 million euros. The visit is accompanied by a delegation of German businessmen and underscores Berlin's course toward Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Germany has allocated €50 million for the restoration of the NSC at Chernobyl NPP following a Russian drone attack in February 2025. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked the German delegation for the prompt decision.
