German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has cancelled his trip to the UN General Assembly in New York, citing the need to be present in Berlin. The reason is a growing split within the CDU against the backdrop of the party's weak results.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine expects to sign the Drone Deal with Canada at the end of September at the UN General Assembly. Earlier, the two countries signed a document on joint drone production.

In an interview with Axios, Zelensky stated that Ukraine will use September and October to step up diplomacy, and sees the UN General Assembly in New York as a possible venue for talks with the US.

At the SCO summit, Xi Jinping declared China's readiness to coordinate peaceful settlements on Ukraine, the Middle East, and Afghanistan. In parallel, the PRC leader will meet Trump in Washington on 24 September, skipping the UN General Assembly.

Péter Magyar's government has enshrined in the instruction for the delegation to the 81st UN General Assembly session that Russia threatens Hungary, Europe, and the international order, condemning the war against Ukraine.
