In New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, a closed-door meeting between Lavrov and Rubio took place. The day before, Zelensky and Trump discussed conditions for ending the war in Ukraine.

Peskov stated that Russia rejects a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine and demands 'peace forever.' Meanwhile, Lavrov confirmed readiness for trilateral negotiations involving the United States.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastytis Budrys stated that Putin’s statements on peace talks are “not worth even half a kopeck” and called on the West to increase military aid to Kyiv amid ongoing strikes on Odesa Oblast.

Putin's Assistant Ushakov stated that for the 'earliest possible settlement' the US must completely stop aiding Ukraine. He confirmed that the American envoys did not show Russia a roadmap, and named Abu Dhabi the priority venue for a meeting.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Washington is taking into account the "realities on the ground" in the peace process, calling this a positive signal for continuing the dialogue. At the same time, he accused European leaders of trying to buy time.

Lavrov claimed that he asked Vatican diplomat Gallagher to pass on a "signal" to Kyiv on human rights, however Gallagher's public statements, including his visit to Kyiv in July 2026, contain no such remarks.

At a meeting with the Vatican nuncio in Moscow, Lavrov called on the Holy See to pay attention to the "persecution" of the UOC against the backdrop of the entry into force of Ukrainian Law 3894-IX. The talks also covered the humanitarian tracks of the exchange of detainees and the return of children.

Lavrov stated that the "entire civilized world" has turned against Russia and is striving for its "disintegration." The Foreign Minister called on the Kremlin to show "healthy anger" and named the Baltic states as the main opponents. 🇷🇺🌍

🇺🇸 US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the Russian '3+2' plan failed due to Ukraine's refusal. He believes that peace is possible only with new ideas. 📉 Rubio also assessed Russia's losses at 5–6 thousand per week.
