The Ukrainian gas market is isolated from the European one: exports are closed and imports are absent. By 9 September, gas in Europe exceeded €78 per MWh, while in Ukraine it is falling below UAH 22,000 per 1,000 cubic meters — a one-year low.

According to Reuters, AfD and Kirill Dmitriev are preparing a meeting on resuming Russian gas supplies to Germany. In Berlin, the idea is called "treason to the state."

Vladimir Omelchenko, Director of Energy Programs at the Razumkov Centre, stated that the export ban on gas led to a loss of 6 billion cubic meters of production, and called for a move to an open market model analogous to the electricity sector.

AfD co-chairman Tino Hrupalla, after the party's victory in Saxony-Anhalt, called for lifting all sanctions on Russia, halting drone supplies to Ukraine, and adopting Orbán's energy model. A Forsa poll records AfD support in eastern Germany at 45%.

The Ukrainian Cabinet has approved an experimental project for underground storage of part of the minimum reserves of oil products. From 2027, no less than 20% of diesel fuel within the MROOP must be stored underground.

Ukraine is preparing a controlled gas export mechanism with a 15% production limit and exchange trading. Experts believe this will bring investment back to private production, provided the winter balance is maintained.

Within three weeks, the NCREKU changed its chairman twice: on August 4, Ruslan Slobodyan became the head, and on August 21, Yuri Vlasenko headed the commission again. Experts see this as a circumvention of the ban on two consecutive terms.
